Sculptor, George-Ann Tognoni

The Winfield Scott Memorial is the work of local artist, George-Ann Tognoni who grew up on a farm in Iowa and has called Arizona her home for 50 years. A world-renowned sculptor of public and private art (mostly bronze sculpture), she is best known for the life-size sculpture of three running horses, "The Yearlings" located in Old Town Scottsdale at Brown & Main. She is also responsible for other familiar larger than life-size artwork that have become landmarks in the Valley:

"Christopher Columbus" statue at the Italian American Club of Phoenix;

"Labor's Or" a bronze bas relief of a cowboy hanging up his gear for the last time, commissioned by Paul Messinger as the center piece of the mausoleum at Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale;

"Magnificent Beast" the stylistic rearing horse located in front of her home at 15th Avenue & Northern in Phoenix.
